  • Q
Describe your career path to date?
    A
Wow, where do I begin. I was 10 years old at the time and my uncle was a chef at a local pub. I was intrigued by the industrial dishwasher so he threw me in the kitchen to clean dishes. From then on I've done quite a lot. I've been a waiter, kitchen hand, cook, lawn mower, handy man, web designer, graphic designer, signage installer and more... Now I eat as a job i guess. Ha.
  • Q
What do you love about your job?
    A
I love meeting new people, listening to their stories and what inspires them, whether it be other bloggers on a famil, a well known chef or a random customer in a restaurant. And of course, the amazing dishes I get to eat and learn to make.
  • Q
    And what's not so great?
    A
The weight gain. Nobody enjoys putting on weight!
  • Q
    Describe your typical day?
    A
Normally, I'd wake up, make or go to breakfast, attend a few meetings, speak to my agency Nuffnang, write a few pieces, head over to the gym for a couple hours to try and burn off some of the breakfast/lunch and might attend an event or dinner with other bloggers.
  • Q
What is the best experience you've had in your career?
    A
The opportunity to travel to different destinations, making new friends and trying out some fantastic and weird dishes would be up there with the best experiences to date.
  • Q
What do great PR people do?
    A
    Maintain a relationship/friendship even though I might be a little weird :P
  • Q
    What do bad PRs do...
    A
Ask for a product/gift back after 8 months. Yes, that happened.
  • Q
How do you like to be contacted and when?
    A
Phone or email is fine, and anytime before 5pm. Never on a weekend! I've had a few nut jobs call me at 7pm on a Sunday night. I have a life you know.
  • Q
How has social media altered your job since the days when you started out?
    A
I first started out on Facebook; now there's almost a dozen mediums to maintain i.e Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest, etc and so forth, and it gets a bit tiresome at times.
  • Q
Do you enjoy attending industry events, and if so- which are your fave kind?
    A
Food & Lifestyle events are fantastic but I do tend to steer away from blogger dinners at restaurants, etc. What we get served is usually different to what John Smith would get receive, so I do ask for a private dinner to show the followers exactly what they will get.
  • Q
The media landscape is going through a period of dramatic change - where do you see it in 5 years?
    A
Seems like everything will go mobile and digital, even small enough to jump onto smart watches. Print will be a niche aspect going quarterly or biannually, it could compliment digital in a way.
  • Q
If you weren't a blogger, what would you be?
    A
You sound like my parents haha, I'd probably be in the family village in Lebanon looking after our farm and acres of oregano and olive trees, cooking and drinking all day. The fresh air, the calmness and the fresh food is enticing and inviting, it's my nirvana I guess.
