  • Q
Describe your career path to date?
    A
I have had a dream run and am so lucky. In my fourth year of uni in Queensland studying commerce and economics I was working at Nova Radio in the street team. Next thing you know abc started a new youth dedicated channel ABC3 and I found myself on a proper TV set filming our first episode of Prank Patrol 2 weeks after my first audition. I did kids telly for 3 years and was lucky enough to film all over Australia, Toronto & the UK. Then Channel 10 realised after Video Hits there was still a market for a Saturday morning music show, so I got offered The Loop. I have now been doing that for 3 years, filming Movie Juice, and a whole heaps of other freelance jobs like voice overs, MC'ing, DJ'ing and writing columns in dolly mag/beast etc.
  • Q
What do you love about your job?
    A
Everything. Listening to music and watching movies and getting paid for it is awesome. Plus the sort of work I do is all about the more you put in, the more you get out. Plus rocking up in Australia's lounge rooms every Saturday morning is nice (not literally).
  • Q
    And what's not so great?
    A
The day I complain about my job I deserve a smack to the head. Of course there is long hours sometimes and you have to work with "big personalities" here and there, but right now I have nothing to complain about. Probably the pressure from my agent to make a sex tape isn't ideal.
  • Q
    Describe your typical day?
    A
No day is the same, probably like all you PR folk. I film 2 days a week with The Loop, one day a week with Movie Juice. Then all that other stuff above plus a bit of time allocated to social media and creating bigger and better opportunities.
  • Q
What is the best experience you've had in your career?
    A
Hosting the red carpet of The Aria Awards. It was by far the biggest working day of my life. We were on set filming and working from 8am till 11:30pm non stop. I didn't eat. You would all know that feeling when it's go go go and you forget to eat. Before 12 we had to film the pre-show. Then hosted the red carpet from 12-4pm. Then I had to sprint backstage and host the green room for Telstra which included live crosses. I then had to present an award with Delta, film a full episode of The Loop there, and probably interviewed 30 artists. Hectic. And I loved every minute of it.
  • Q
What do great PR people do?
    A
Give me free stuff. No they run awesome events. They send you products that are right for me. They have an understanding of the people they need to impress.
  • Q
    What do bad PRs do...
    A
The opposite to the above. Inviting you to the wrong event is not ideal. But I totally get I am a tiny fish in a big pond - so I can't blame you sometimes.
  • Q
How do like to be contacted and when?
    A
    Email whenever.
  • Q
How has social media altered your job since the days when you started out?
    A
It is definitely a game changer. And I love it. It makes everyone work harder and makes you think more strategically. I have just recently started mastering instagram and I have noticed my social numbers growing massively. It's all about the insta-vids. So many people can take beautiful photos and I feel that market is becoming saturated. But how many are making good, funny, quirky, entertaining 15 sec vids? Producing and editing content isn't easy.
  • Q
Do you enjoy attending industry events?
    A
    Yes, I love it.
